How associations as keywords extend search for niche market music

I start here a first post of Music Case Series. The reason I chose this subject is my personal experience in music search on Youtube, in blogs or across comments area, where other users often post their references. I often find new authors, styles and personal links to different kinds of subjects, from games to existential psychology in these mentions.

I noticed that general tags don’t often lead to small channels or large niche channels even if these channels use general keywords on thumbnail video or as tags. I take an example with the The Witcher universe. There are a variety of youtube channels, which create :

Cover music versions : instrumental, rock, metal, medieval et ct
ASMR ambience video
Music maker ispiration or fan music
Mix of original games/series music and personal artworks
Original artist music and AI images

The general tags are often : #the witcher, #ambient, #relax, #study or sleep, #rock/metal, #Kaer Morhen winter/fireplace, #Geralt

Sometimes, these tags, put into the title, create viral videos. This is how I come across them most of the time, because I don’t really search for the Witcher game stuff, streams or game features themselves.

But still even with several viral videos, the niche of the youtube channel itself often stays out of interest. It looks like a crowd coming for the buzz and then going away for the similar The witcher related content. I don’t see any problem if this method works for the channel and its creators don’t search for more view/subscribers or channel’s niche users.

I am speaking as well about paid services/content and ads as about niche discussions and collaborations beacause I don’t separate and oppose these things. It’s a logic and reasonable goal for me. Also, I think that occasionnal users who come to the niche video may pay for the services or write accurate comments beacause of their interest in the niche, without becoming a subscriber.

So here comes my project. I suggest the keywords combinations, which come from one niche theme to another niche theme without necessary pass by general theme tags.

This resolves two common problems with general tags.

The first is the saturation of general keywords, which need additional context to define the accurate channels or artists.

The second is that music classification may be general but the perception is personal and depends on context, time, mood and knowledge of the person who searches for the content. To give an example, what is exactly rock folk music if you don’t know what is folk? Or what is the difference between an insturmental cover or metal cover if the second is done only with the music instruments without singing? What is rock folk for you, may never be the same for another user or just may not be the same today, but may be the same in two years.

You may never know about music terms and concepts, artists and styles but still have an idea of what you want. So I think this kind of search works well by analogies, which we use to link to what we know at the particular moment.

The Witcher universe and the niche gateways from it to other subjects, styles and projects.

I noticed how often I find interesting mentions for me in a somehow 50 comments’ section under a random music Youtube channel. This kind of channels make their own way with 1 to 5 thousands subscribers for some years when I cross them. This often happends through one viral video. It reaches from 20 to 200 thousands views and comes under my eyes by this way.

This is a way I reached The Witcher 4 – Original Cinematic soundtrack 2024 Ciri’s Theme from the Bulbie Youtube channel below :

I may somehow come across it by searching the ambiant music from the Witcher or The Witcher 4 trailer. I am not a player by the way, which I tend to underline. This shows that I searched and clicked on this video without any particular The Witcher game experience.

I liked the repetitive text lines about choising a personal path in life in the video and found them related to the psychology of the Fate Analysis by Leopold Szondi. I crossed this video at the time when I discovered Leopold Szondi and his point of view on the influence of family heritage, patterns and beliefs on the now and here life. I found how relatable the Witcher 4 trailer in itself and the mentioned video – The Witcher 4 – Original Cinematic soundtrack 2024 Ciri’s Theme, were to the fate analysis of Leopold Szondi.

These videos show in a storytelling way how the absence of updates in the perception of the world may lead to the repetitive and useless drama, illusions and fears. I think that for someone, who is interested in this particular field of psychotherapy and psychiatry, this fictional storytelling visualizes a case of the concept.

So I link a niche theme from the Witcher like fate beliefs and family patterns and a niche theme from psychology/psychiatry like Fate Analysis by Leopold Szondi. I do it by additing the niche tags to the general keywords like The Witcher and psychology. Otherway this may not show this connection or the results will be on from the page 50 of the search engine or the forum area.
